Alberta College Transfer Bolsters Women's Volleyball Rotation

The CMU Women's Volleyball team is very excited to announce the commitment of Alberta Collegiate Athletic Conference transfer Rachel Oswald for the 2015-16 season.

The 5'9 power hitter's high school career was played locally at Winnipeg's Kildonan East Collegiate where Oswald was selected as her team's recipient of the Reivers Coach's Award and was recognized with honorable mention as a 2013 MHSAA 'AAAA' Graduating All-star.

After high school, Oswald began her collegiate volleyball career in Lloydminister, Alberta where she played two seasons (2013-15) with the Lakeland College Rustlers. She helped drive the Rustlers to back to back ACAC playoff appearances and was selected her team's 2014-15 Most Improved Player.

"I am very excited to have Rachel as an addition to our program this year," commented new Blazers head coach Evelyn Kampen, "her experience in the ACAC will be a great asset to our team. She is a talented player and we look forward to seeing her contribution in both athletic skill and leadership on the court."

Oswald has been a part of many Winnipeg-based club teams during her youth development, most recently Visions Volleyball Club 16u and Junior Wesmen 17u.

CMU Women's Volleyball will begin this preseason October 2nd at Providence University College's Invitational and follow that with tournament play in Niagara Falls at the Niagara College Invitational October 16-17.
