Women's Volleyball Travel To Niagara Falls for Preseason Action

With the team geared up and charging down the runway for the 2015-16 MCAC season, Women's Volleyball is off to challenge some of the best in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association this weekend at Niagara College in Welland, Ontario.

The Blazers will face the host Niagara Knights before the tournament begins and beginning Saturday, will take on Trent University, Fanshawe College and the Niagara Alumni before beginning the medal round on Sunday morning.

"This weekend provides us with an opportunity to get better connected, on and off the court," said new coach Evelyn Kampen, "We have a talented team with great chemistry, and I hope to see a further improvement in our serve-receive percentages and our consistency in offense."

Perhaps Women's Volleyball's most successful tournament outcome in Ontario came when Kampen was part of a Blazer's team that finished third at the Adidas Cup at Durham College in Oshawa back in 2011.

Second year setter/libero Becca Krahn echoes her coach's response when asked about the Niagara weekend; "It gives us a chance to really put into practice the things that we have been striving for as a team and I think it will really give us the chance to come together and find a good team harmony."

That harmony will be tested when CMU begins conference play next Friday night when they travel across Winnipeg to challenge Les Rouges from The University of St-Boniface in their conference home opener in their first match of the season that will count in the standings.
