The Pita Pit Female Blazer Athlete Of The Month - October

Congratulations to Anna Lysack of the Women's Soccer Team on being selected The Pita Pit Female Athlete of the Month for October. The rookie midfielder played a huge part in the Blazers' climb up the MCAC standings this season, and when the injury bug caught up with CMU in October, the steady Lysack continued to display her box to box style; helping support the attackers whilst at the same time remaining committed to her defenders.

"Anna has been such a versatile and reliable player for us," said co-coach Lianna Bestvater, "she has an ability to transition to a lot of different positions during the game, she is a great passer and really thinks the game well; playing give and go's and relentlessly putting herself further into attacking positions through her passing combinations."

Lysack and the Women's Soccer team finished with a record of 4-4-0 through their conference season, improving on their 2014 record of 1-7-1 and perhaps had one of their best games of the season in last weekend's conference semifinal when they charged back against the #2 ranked Brandon University Bobcats. In the match, Lysack's running and passing was front and center and helped the Blazers narrow the gap to one goal after allowing BU to score twice early in the match.

Though the outdoor season is finished for Lysack and Women's Soccer, the futsal season is about to kickoff. CMU hosts the inaugural Canadian Grasslands Futsal Cup on November 20-22 competeing against Red River College, Ambrose University College and Brandon University.
