Versatile Bonivital Defender Will Add Grit And Versatility to Men's Soccer Roster
The CMU Men's Soccer Program is very happy to announce the commitment of Bonivital Soccer Club's under-18 defender Roy Miller for the 2016 MCAC season. Miller and his PR1 u18 boys team were recently eliminated from the WYSA Boys Indoor Playoffs in the semifinal and will soon begin preperations for the WYSA outdoor campaign.
Praised for his versatility, Miller has been positioned in multiple roles during his time with Bonivital, though CMU head coach Russell Willms has intentions of finding the College Jean Sauve grade 12 student a more permanent role; "Roy has played in alot of positions, including in goal with Bonivital, and through all of this, he has a really good understanding of organizing the players in front of him and being a good communicator. I think that Roy will work very well as a player anchoring the space in front of our defenders or shift into an outside full back role on the right side."
Miller has also received alot of his solid technical skills and development at Chico's School of Soccer Excellence (CSSE Impact) where he has trained since age 11. Some highlights with CSSE Impact were numerous appearances at USA Cup in Blaine, Minnesota, university and college showcases in the US and a soccer tour of Spain in 2011.
"We are thrilled that Roy has decided to study at CMU and play with us," added Willms, "Roy first came out to a summer training with us when he was in Grade 10, we've stayed in contact and now it will be great to see him join our group of players."
Miller has co-captained his high school team at CJS and plans to represent his school again in this spring's MHSAA Urban Soccer schedule. He is also hopeful that his Bonvital PR1 u18s can win the MSA Cup this summer and represent Manitoba at the 2016 National Championshjips.
