Women's Soccer Scores Big By Signing Former Bisons' Striker Camille Plett

After three seasons with the Manitoba Bisons in USports (formerly CIS), Camille Plett has decided to end her university soccer career in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference. The graduate of Winnipeg's Fort Richmond Collegiate signed her Letter of Intent in February to compete for the CMU Blazers.

"Camille will fit in perfectly with the style of play we want to play," said CMU co-head coach and a former University of Manitoba Bison herself, Lianna Bestvater, "Camille can run past defenders and can hammer the ball on goal. She has a very high level of commitment and she works hard all the time. She will make an immediate impact on MCAC soccer and on our team."

Plett was voted the team Most Valuable Player at Fort Richmond in all three seasons of high school. She captained the Centurions in 2012-13 and 2013-14. In 16 high school games in 2013-14, Plett scored an amazing 31 goals and counted 10 assists in just 16 games.

In three seasons with the Bisons, Plett appeared in 30 matches, starting 6. Plett scored 2 league goals and added 2 assists.

"Camille will bring a rare level of soccer intelligence to the MCAC as well as a strong determination to train and excel," added co-head coach Cara Isaak, who worked with Plett during her time as an assistant coach with Manitoba before taking over the Women's Soccer program with Bestvater in the spring of 2015. "She is an amazing finisher and will bring a spark to our offense that will have a huge impact in our team's success."

Plett played youth club soccer with Winnipeg's South End United. She was voted Female Athlete of the Year by WSEU in 2014 when she scored 14 goals and added 10 assists over 8 matches in their regular season. Plett had comparable success when she moved into the Winnipeg Women's Soccer League as an 18 year-old with Brasil FC in 2014. Despite a last place finish by the club, Plett led her team in goals with 12; the third most goals-scored in the top division.
