Women's Basketball Gains Commitment Of Dakota's Versatile All-Star
When Manitoba Basketball and the MHSAA gather on April 14th at St. Paul's High School for the Annual Graduating All-Star festivities, CMU's newest signing, Christina Klysh will be there to take part in the 2018 'AAAA' Girls festivities. The 5'8 combo guard, helped her team to the SCAC Champions Final last month, scoring an average of 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists per game in her Grade 12 season.
A graduate of the Junior Bisons Basketball Club, Klysh's high school coach, Eric Sung notes; "Christina is a high-level combo guard with the ability to play multiple positions. She has amazing talent to rebound on both ends of the floor and is always adding to her offensive game."
Klysh was named as a Tournament All-star for the Lancers in serveral of the tournaments in 2018 and finished off this month as Dakota's Athlete of the Month for the month of March. "The thing that separates Christina from other athletes is her determination and work ethic to improve as a basketball player. She loves being in the gym and we at Dakota are all proud that she will continue her athletic career at CMU this Fall:"
Klysh's new head coach, Joe Di Curzio echoed Sung's comments and believes that Klysh's versatility will help her transition quickly from high school to college basketball. "Christina has played many positions, including point guard," said Di Curzio, "she is an excellent student and she transfers that well when she steps onto the basketball court, having a very high basketball IQ. The experience she has playing different roles for her team and in different situations fits very well into the way we do things here, so we are really excited to have her joining us at CMU."
