R.D. Parker All-Star Comes South To Join Women's Basketball

CMU Women's Basketball is very pleased to announce the commitment of R.D. Parker's Hannah Murdy for the 2018-19 Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season. The 5'7 Guard was selected first-team All-Manitoba and a Provincial All-star in her graduating season after leading the Trojans to the 2018 Manitoba High School 'AAA' Girls Basketball Championship by knock off the University of Winnipeg Collegiate in overtime in a thrilling final game.

"We are very excited to add Hannah to our program," said head coach Joe Di Curzio. "Hannah possesses a great skill set, a very high basketball IQ and a terrific work ethic that tends to rub off on her teammates. We know she is a high-character person who is an excellent fit for our program."

Murdy added two Tournament All-star recognitions in her Grade 12 year before capping off her high school career with a Graduating All-Star selection.

In her home town of Thompson, Manitoba, Murdy has already begun giving back to the game of basketball by coaching the Grade 3-4 age group of Junior Bisons Club. She also competed for R.D. Parker in badminton, volleyball, soccer and track and field where she took the ultimate high school sporting challenge as a pentathlete (100 meter, 800 meter, shot put, long jump and high jump).

Murdy and the Blazers begin their 2018-19 preseason on September 27th when they host the St. Mary's Lightning at the Loewen Athletic Centre. The 2018-19 NIAC schedule is expected to be released in the coming days.
