CMU Prepares For Another Toronto Challenge

The CMU men’s volleyball team confirmed their third successive year of participation in the 2011 Seneca Cup Challenge Men’s Volleyball Tournament this week. The tournament takes place in Toronto each year and features some of the top college volleyball teams in Ontario and Eastern Canada.

In 2010 the Blazers showed a marked improvement with a fourth-place finish. The tournament was highlighted by a straight-set victory over then undefeated Durham College of Oshawa that pushed CMU into the tournament semi-final. Despite a 2-1 pool play record, CMU eventually succumb to nationally-ranked Nippissing College in the Bronze Medal match.

“Playing against the top college teams at Seneca will be a great way to prepare us for the upcoming season,” shares CMU head coach Mark Kliewer, “After our fourth-place finish last year, anything less than a medal this year would be disappointing.”

The 2011 Seneca Cup Challenge will get underway Friday, October 14 in Toronto, Ontario.
