CMU Captures Third Win and Playoff Position

The CMU women’s soccer team got back on winning terms on Wednesday night with a 4-2 victory over Red River College at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex. Christina Janzen opened the scoring with her first goal of the season 20 minutes into the match and Maraleigh Short made it 2-0 to the home team ten minutes later. Five minutes after the restart, Rianna Isaak scored her first goal as a Blazer on a free-kick.

Trailing by three goals, the Rebels began to dig their heels in and get forward. Two goals on the trot by Daniella Colatruglio marched Red River within striking distance, but Meghan Kjartanson iced the game for CMU in the final minutes to assure the Blazers of three-points and a first-round match-up with rivals Providence University College in the Conference Semi-Final Championships, October 22.

The next action for CMU is tomorrow afternoon when they complete their regular season against the Winnipeg Wesmen at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex.
