Blazers Hold Down Home Court

After picking up their first conference win in Brandon on Friday night, the Blazers returned home on Saturday afternoon and evened their conference record with a 72-24 win over Assiniboine Community College, moving to 2-2.

The story of the weekend was the CMU defense. With the score 36-18 in the Blazers favour at halftime, the Cougars could manage a meager six points in the entire second half.

We defended really well in the game, especially in the second half”, said CMU head coach Christie Anne McCullough, “It was a total team effort in both games this weekend and we were able to get playing experience for alot of our new players, which will help us down the road.”

Second-year guard Carrera Lamoureux led the way offensively for the Blazers scoring 21 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Forward Nina Schroeder posted a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds while Laura Tait collected 10 points in support.

The next action for CMU is Wednesday night when they travel to Providence University College in Otterburne for a showdown with the Freemen. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 PM.
