Blazers Bounce Freemen For Third Win

The CMU men’s basketball team raised their conference record to 3-3 on Friday night, handing Providence University College their second consecutive loss, 75-41.

First-year forward Matej Juric scored 14 of his team-high 19 points in the first half, pushing the Blazers to a 34-18 lead at the break. The victory was never in doubt for the Blazers, who led wire-to-wire and got balanced-scoring and dominant rebounding from their roster.

Despite netting a mere 6 points, second-year center Wyatt Anders had a monstrous game on the glass. The 6’7 product of Sturgeon Heights Collegiate grabbed 20 rebounds and dished-out 6 assists from the high-post to lead his team in both categories.

First-year forward Sean Baergen, who has also held a hot-hand for the Blazers in recent games, posted a double-double for CMU on 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Blazers meet their Route-90 neighbours from Red River College next weekend to close out their MCAC Fall semester schedule. It will be the first meeting of the season for the long-time basketball rivals. Tip-off in scheduled for Friday night at 8 PM.
