Blazers Suffer Back-to-Back Losses To Rebels

Endurance and balanced-scoring helped the Red River Rebels to their second-consecutive win over CMU on Saturday afternoon in MCAC women’s basketball action.

After falling to the Rebels on Friday night by a score of 85-49, the Blazers emerged with a good team effort in Saturday’s first half, finding themselves within a basket of their Winnipeg rivals at the break 36-34.

Second-year guard Carrera Lamoureux continued to carry the bulk of the scoring for her team, dropping 23-points. However, costly turnovers led the easy scores for the home team in the second half.

Third-year guard Tia Ruddock scored 12 of her game-high 28 points in the fourth quarter to ice the game for the Rebels, moving them to 2-2 in conference play this season, while the loss dropped the Blazers t0 3-5 as they enter their holiday break.

Mallory Shack netted 12 points in the support for the Blazers. The next action for CMU will take place on January 6-7 when they travel to Bemidji, Minnesota to tip-off in the Can-Am Cross-Over Tournament hosted by Oak Hills Christian College.
