Anders Making Move To CIS With Manitoba

The Manitoba Bisons announced yesterday CMU center Wyatt Anders as part of their 2012 recruiting class. In two seasons with the Blazers, the 6’7 product of Sturgeon Heights Collegiate has racked up an impressive collegiate resume. Voted Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference co-MVP in his rookie season, Anders followed this with a sole-MVP performance in 2012 and led the Blazers to a first-place finish in the regular season.

“Wyatt’s hard work over the past two years has been impressive,” shared CMU head coach Darcy Coss who helped introduce Anders to the program at CMU two years ago, “He worked hard in the weight room to change his body and hard on the court to add to his game. It’s been a pleasure to coach him over the past two years and be a part of his development.”

On Tuesday, Bison head coach Kirby Schepp stated that he expects Anders to make an immediate impact on the U of M program. “Wyatt has the ability to defend multiple positions and is a tenacious rebounder. We feel his experience and work ethic will make us a better team right away.”

Anders’ name will remain etched in the CMU basketball record books for his massive 46-point, 23-rebound performance in a win over Oak Hills Christian College in January 2011. He joins fellow Winnipeggers Andre Arrudu-Welch and Brett Jewell bound for the Bisons as well as college transfer Davidson Joseph who comes to Manitoba from College Ahuntsic in Montreal.
