CMU Libero Dives Into CIS With Cougars

After two years on the court with the Blazers, CMU libero and Regina-native Lindsay Braul will be making the jump from MCAC to the CIS next season with the Regina Cougars. During her tenure at CMU, Braul helped the Blazers to consecutive Championship appearances, an undefeated regular season in 2011-12 and back-to-back wins at the Western Canadian College Volleyball Championships.

“Lindsay has been a fantastic athlete and student here,” says CMU head coach Andrea Charbonneau-Harrison, herself a former CIS standout with the University of Winnipeg, “she works incredibly hard at everything that she does and she is well-deserving of this opportunity. I am excited to follow her progress with Regina next season and in the years that follow.”

Much of the Cougars focus will be set on building a nationally-competitive women’s program for 2013 when they are scheduled to host the CIS Championships. Braul is excited about the volleyball that is ahead and credits her CMU coach for helping her develop her abilities, ” I am really thankful that I had Andrea as my coach these past few years,” shares Braul, ” she really brought me to a level where I was able to make this team. Had I tried out for the Cougars without her coaching, I seriously doubt that I would be in this position.”

Braul is the third CMU student-athlete to make the jump from the college-level to the CIS this year. Last month basketball players Carrera Lamoureux and Wyatt Anders confirmed moves to Brandon University and the University of Manitoba respectively. Mark your calendars for January 26th and 27th when Braul will be back in Winnipeg with the Cougars to take on the Bisons at the Investors Group Athletic Centre.
