MBCI Soccer Duo Commit to CMU
The CMU men’s soccer team are very pleased to secure MBCI defender Nick Czehryn and defender/striker Dylan Attardo. The duo combined to led the Hawks to the best defensive record in the difficult Manitoba High School K-PAC division, playing side-by-side as central defenders.
Czehryn helped Winakwa United to the 2011 U-17 city championships earning a tournament MVP selection en route. “I expect Nick to step in and feature as an outside full-back for us this year”, says head coach Russell Willms, “Nick has a great engine and can get up and down the wing while remaining committed to defending the goal.”
Attardo also finished the 2011 outdoor season with a city championship, his at the U-18 level with the East St. Paul Aces and also won the Indoor City’s this winter. Currently playing as a striker with Northwest Italia in the Manitoba Major Soccer League, Attardo has recorded 5 goals in 8 matches to lead his club.
“Dylan will be very versatile and will be a good player in our conference”, added Willms, “he is hard on the tackle and has a great sense around the goal as a striker. He understands how to use space and how to play with his back to goal.”
CMU is scheduled to kick-off their preseason on September 2nd when they host ACAC’s Medicine Hat College at the John Scouras Field at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex.
