Blazers Add Perimeter Pair

The CMU men’s basketball team is pleased to announce the commitments of Brendan Dyck and Sam Harrison for the upcoming season.

A sharp-shooting guard, Dyck captained Westgate Mennonite Collegiate in his Grade 12 year, helping the Wings to the MHSAA ‘AAA’ Provincial Championship Final in Thompson last March. The 6’1 guard averaged 20 points a game and received multiple tournament all-star awards along the way.

“Brendan plays hard and always within the team concept,” says CMU head coach Darcy Coss, “his 3pt shooting ability is very high and we are happy to have a shooter of his level to add to our group next year.”

At 5’8, Harrison is a tenacious defender and perimeter scorer. A product of Fort Richmond Collegiate, Harrison averaged 15 points and 7 assists for the Centurions in his Grade 12 year, was selected tournament MVP on three occasions and won the Jim Daly Award as the Outstanding Player of the Year. Harrison is a native of Boston, Lincolnshire in the UK and moved to Canada with his family in 2005.

“Sam is a very aggressive, high energy player,” shares Coss, “He brings unquestioned energy on the defensive end and on offense he plays with no fear when attacking the basket or shooting the ball. You know that when Sam is on the court something will happen.”

Dyck and Harrison join a wealth of fresh faces on a re-vamped Blazers basketball team this Fall. CMU tip-off their preseason September 27th at Kwantlen College in Surrey, BC.
