Johnson Joins CMU Men’s Soccer Squad

The CMU men’s soccer team is pleased to announce the addition of Cole Johnson for their upcoming season. The midfielder is a product of FC Northwest and currently plays club soccer with Northwest Italia of the Manitoba Major Soccer League.

As a youth, Johnson twice held MSA Cup Championships with Northwest. Representing Manitoba at u-14 Nationals in Prince Edward Island, the local squad finished in fourth-place and at u-16 National in Toronto the Manitobans captured the silver medals.

Johnson also helped his high school, River East Collegiate, to a 3-1 record in his Grade 12 year. “We are happy to have Cole’s commitment and expect him to fit right in with the group,” said head coach Russell Willms, “Cole is composed and confident on the ball and can go forward and help create scoring chances for the team.”

The Blazers open their 2012 pre-season one month from today when they host Medicine Hat College, September 2nd at Winnipeg Soccer Complex. Match time is scheduled for 4pm.
