Getting Ready to Bring The Thunder

The CMU women’s and men’s soccer teams are tuning up for a busy weekend in Thunder Bay, Ontario where they will represent the MCAC at the second annual SportTop Invitational Tournament played at Chapples Field.

The CMU women will take on Senior Women’s Champions, Thunder Bay Impact, Lakehead University and finish the weekend against the host Confederation College. The Blazers currently sit tied for second-place in the Manitoba Conference with a record of 0-2-1, with Red River College. The Rebels will host first-place Providence this weekend to close out the first month of conference play.

The Blazer men will also kick-off with Lakehead and Confederation during the tournament, but will begin Saturday with a match-up against Senior Men’s Champions Thunder Bay Rainbow Realty. After a fabulous start to their 2012 season, the CMU men fell hard last Sunday 4-1 at the hands of Providence. “This will be an important weekend for us to pick ourselves up and hopefully find the form that we showed in our first three matches this season,” said head coach Russell Willms.
