Blazers Bring Home Court Win

The CMU women’s volleyball team came out firing on all cylinders on Thursday night as they took on Les Rouges de St- Boniface and won the match 3-1 (25-18, 25-20, 18-25, 25-15).

This was the first meeting of the season for the two teams, setting the tone for the re-match next Tuesday when CMU heads across town. The Blazers won the first set with exceptional back-row play of Erin Blaine in the libero position, who had plenty of digs to help CMU to a 25-18 win. The second set was even more of the same for the Blazers as they took a commanding 2 set lead with a 25-20 win. The third set saw St. Boniface come out hard, taking an early lead. Les Rouges never slowed their momentum, keeping the pressure on and took the third set 25-18.

The fourth set saw CMU come back with vengeance, quickly doubling up on the Les Rouges with a 12-6 lead. St. Boniface tried to battle back but that was too tall of an order against a talented Blazers team which took the match and the set 25-15. The Blazers’ fourth set was led by Maxime Delaney, a 5’10 third-year left side hitter, who racked up 7 kills. With this win over Les Rouges, the Blazers improved their record to 2-1 on the season.

The next action for the Blazers will be on Tuesday, November 6, as they go back to back against the St. Boniface Les Rouges, this time on their court.
