Red River Bounces Blazers on Home Court
The Blazers offense managed only 6 points in the second and third quarter leading to a lopsided 86-26 home loss to the first-place Red River Rebels on Friday night in MCAC women’s basketball.
The high-powered Rebels rose to an 11-0 lead, sparking the best run of play for the Blazers in the game. The remainder of the first quarter and early into the second, CMU outscored their opponents 11-10 to end the quarter down ten, 21-11.
Fourth-year forward Tia Ruddock found her shooting stroke in the third-quarter and from their the first-place team showed their quality. Ruddock ended with a game-high 24, while captain Abby Silva poured in 19 in support.
The Blazers were led by first-year center Kathleen Klippenstein who clutched 14 of her teams 37 rebounds and dropped 8 points.
The next home action for the CMU women is Tuesday, January 22nd in an all-imporant tip-off with the 2-2 Providence Lady Freemen at 6pm.
