West-Man Champ Joins Women’s Soccer

IMG_6691With a new season of MCAC women’s soccer only weeks away, the CMU Blazers are pleased to announce the commitment of Rivers Collegiate’s Jill Beever for the upcoming season. Beever and the Rivers Rams cruised through the 2012 MHSAA rural high school season, qualifying as the #1 seed for the Provincial Championships last October and defeated Stonewall Collegiate 2-1 in the Girls Final.

Beever was one of four Rivers players recognized as a Provincial Rural All-Star for her outstanding play during Championship Weekend.  “Jill has the ability to be an integral part of every team she plays on, a real utility player who is able to fill any position from goalkeeper to striker” says CMU Women’s Soccer Coach Tony Mazza.

Her versatility is also evident off the pitch, where she has been successful on the rink in curling, on the court for volleyball, and on the dance floor.

Jill has grown up competing in the Rivers Youth Soccer Association where she has been playing for the U18 women’s team, and has also been keeping busy playing with many of the graduates of the program for a team in the Brandon Women’s League for the past two seasons.

The CMU Blazers Women’s Soccer squad kicks off the season at noon on Saturday September 7, when they host the Providence Pilots at John Scouras Field at The Winnipeg Soccer Complex.
