All Roads Lead to Edmonton For CMU Hoops

1255204_694277980602309_2072517138_nAfter opening their 2013 Preseason Schedule last Friday night with a 101-point offensive outpouring at Fall Festival, the Blazers take their show on the road this weekend in their first appearance at the Alberta Basketball University Showcase Tournament hosted at the Saville Centre in Edmonton.

This evening, CMU opens their tournament against Grand Prairie Regional College of the ACAC’s North Division at 6pm. Friday, the Blazers tip-off with the Alberta Colleges Athletic League Champions, Canadian University College Aurora from Leduc at noon. In their final game Saturday morning, CMU will get reacquainted with the King’s University College Eagles, who the Blazers defeated in 2011 at KUC’s Preseason Tournament.

1377368_694275693935871_568311122_nThe CMU Women are also preparing themselves for their own Alberta Showcase, riding the confidence they took from their Fall Festival win over Providence.

The Blazers will face St. Mary’s University College of Calgary tonight at 6pm, King’s on Friday afternoon at 2pm and complete their tournament with 10am game Saturday morning against the Grand Prairie Wolves and Kelly O’Hallahan who is coming off a 19 points, 11 rebound game last weekend at King’s in 22 minutes played.

Local fans interested in watching the Blazers take on the ACAC’s best can mark their calendars for Friday, October 11th when CMU hosts the Briercrest Clippers. The Clipper-men held a top-3 National Ranking for the better part of 2012-13 and are guaranteed to draw a large vocal crowd when they travel through Winnipeg. CMU Athletics will keep fans updated with scores and possible Alberta Showcase Webcast Links through the CMU Blazers Facebook and Twitter pages should web-casting be made available by the Tournament Hosting Committee.
