Little Caesars Athletes of the Month – October

0T8A2641-XLIMG_7125Congratulations to Jillian Beever of the Women’s Soccer Team and Ben Shantz of the Men’s Basketball Team on being selected the Little Caesars Athletes of the Month for October.

Versatility is what makes Beever such a valuable asset on the soccer pitch for CMU. The West-Man product featured as a defender, midfielder, striker and goalkeeper this month, and nabbed the game-winning goal in the Blazers 2-1 win over Assiniboine Community College on October 6th. A member of the MHSAA Rural Provincial Girls Soccer Champions from Rivers Collegiate, Beever was selected as a Provincial All-Star goalkeeper, a position she offered to play after being unable to play her more natural midfield position due to injury.

Last weekend at the MCAC Conference Championships, Beever was one of four Blazers named to the 2013 All-Conference Women’s Soccer Team.

After helping CMU to a 2-1 record at the Alberta Showcase in Edmonton to start the month with wins over Concordia and King’s, Shantz led his team with 18 points in a narrow 101-96 loss to the Briercrest Clippers on home court October 11th.

Despite a disappointing loss to Providence in their conference opener on Wednesday night, the 6’5″ London, Ontario product posted 12 points and grabbed 3 offensive boards in the 2-point loss.manager-little-caesars-pizza_5170467
