Wride Kicks Off Women’s Soccer Recruits

The CMU Women's Soccer Team is very pleased to announce the commitment of Flin Flon defender/midfielder Janelle Wride for the 2014 MCAC Outdoor Season and the 2015 Futsal Season.

Wride scored three goals at the MHSAA Rural Provincials last October when her Kopper Kings won the consolation final for a fifth-place finish. While at Hapnot, Wride has claimed four consecutive zone titles with her team and co-captained the squad in her Grade 12 year.

Head Coach Tony Mazza is eager to add a strong, technically-sound player like Wride to his group next season. "Janelle has a high-level of skill and will provide some needed power from defence or midfield," Mazza explains, "She is enthusiastic, very coachable and possesses a strong, accurate shot. We're really happy to have her on board."

Janelle will joins a team that has aspirations of competing for top-honours in MCAC next season, as the 2013 Blazers finished with a .500 record and boast a young, athletic group that showed plenty of improvement over the outdoor and indoor season. Janelle's older brother Ben led the CMU Men's Soccer in goals as a rookie, scoring 8 in 8 conference matches.
