Men’s Basketball Gains Perimeter Pair

The CMU Men's Basketball Team is excited to announce the commitment of current Faith Academy point guard Artem Coste and former Faith Academy guard Patrick Quevedo, by way of the University of Manitoba.

Coste (right) led Faith to a 12-2 record in his grade 12 year in MHSAA Zone 12, scoring 18+ points per game, but is a more natural fit to running an offense than filling the basket. "Artem is an incredible offensive player," says Head Coach Billy Isaac, "He combines great speed and a finishing touch to score in the paint"

Isaac became acquainted with Coste in the summer of 2012, when they both represented Winnipeg at the Manitoba Summer Games in Swan River.

Joining Coste is Manitoba-transfer Quevedo (above left) who is looking forward to getting back on the basketball court after starring for the Faith Academy varsity boys from 2009 until his graduating year in 2012. Quevedo is enrolled in CMU's Redekop School of Business this fall and, like Coste, is confident running an offense but has proven himself capable of scoring the basketball as well, as was evident in his grade 12 year when he averaged 25+ points per game in Zone 12. "Patrick is a very quick decision-maker and an excellent play maker", added Isaac.

Coste and Quevedo are currently running the floor together with Warriors in the Winnipeg Inter-Church Basketball League; a highly-competitive local fellowship league organized by former Blazer, Danrey Amoyo. Both Faith Academy Basketball Alum will be attending this weekend's Men's Basketball Identification Camp this Saturday and Sunday at CMU.
