Plenty Of Love For Men's Basketball Recruit

The CMU Men's Basketball team is thrilled to announce the commitment of Pinawa's dynamic guard Jon Hayter to the program.

The awards and accolades have followed Hayter throughout his high school basketball career at Pinawa. The 5'11 guard was 'A' Provincial MVP in 2012 as well as in his 2014 graduating season when his Pinawa Panthers finished second. Hayter also received the Player' Choice Award at the 2013 MHSAA 'A' Provincials.

Hayter averaged 30 points per game, 13 rebounds and 7 assists; numbers that have his new head coach Billy Isaac anticipating big things at the MCAC-level. "Jon is a fearless, explosive player who is going to be extremely fun to watch running the open floor for us," says Isaac.

In other basketball news, at last week's MCAC Annual General Meeting, CMU's bid to host the 2015 Men's and Women's Basketball Championships received the full support of the conference. The 2015 Championships are scheduled to be held in CMU's Loewen Athletic Centre, February 14-15.

The Blazers also made commitments to host non-conference games versus Turtle Mountain Community College (Belcourt, ND) October 18th and Dakota College at Bottineau (Bottineau, ND) January 29th. The Men's and Women's Basketball team hade commitments to participate in non-conference tournaments at Edmonton's, Alberta Basketball College & University Showcase October 2-4, Bottineau's Kevin Thom Classic, November 1-2, and will travel to play a series of games in North Dakota versus North Dakota State College of Science and Trinity Bible College (January 24-25) and Turtle Mountain Community College (February 7th).
