Women’s Volleyball Adds Zodiac Power

The CMU Women's Volleyball Team is very happy to announce the signing of Marcail Wiebe for the upcoming 2014-15 MCAC Women's Volleyball Season.

The 5'9 left-side chose to finish her high school volleyball career at Winkler's Garden Valley Collegiate in 'AAA' girls volleyball where she had played in Grade 9 and 10, despite the opportunity to play 'AAAA' at south-central Manitoba's newest high school, Northland Parkway Collegiate. This decision helped Wiebe become a excellent on-court leader, something that new CMU head coach Eku Malcolm believes will translate well as she transitions to the college-level.

"Marcail has a fearless, competitive attitude along with a good sense of position on the court and a strong hitting presence," says Malcolm, "She will be a great asset to our team and a court-leader as we progress in our development this season."

Like Marcail, older brother Ryan was a standout athlete on the volleyball court at GVC but followed his passion for basketball to CMU in 2012. Ryan recently completed his second year with the Blazers, posting career-highs in most offensive and defensive categories and helping his team to the 2014 MCAC Men's Basketball Championship Final last March.

Marcail and her CMU teammates will travel to Oakville, Ontario in the preseason in mid-October to compete in the Wannamaker Invitational at Sheridan College before beginning their conference season at Red River College, October 25th versus the Red River Rebels.
