Men's Soccer Recruit Comes North To Tackle The MCAC

The Men's Soccer Team is happy to announce the addition of midfielder Corben Boshart for the upcoming MCAC season. The native of Kalona, Iowa recently completed his undergraduate degree at Eastern Mennonite University where he majored in Peace Studies and plans to begin Graduate Studies at CMU this September.

While attending the NCAA Division 3 school, Boshart played one season with the Royals Varsity Men's Soccer Team in 2009.

Earlier this year, the 5'9 midfielder travelled to Iran to participate the sixth Mennonite-Shia Muslim interfaith dialogue at the Imam Khomeini Education and Research Institute. Boshart was one of several students, including many from CMU, who were invited to observe as the two groups worked to increase understanding of each other's values and beliefs.

On the pitch, Boshart is equally progressive and enterprising. "Corben will be a great fit for the attacking style of play we hope to feature this season," said Head Coach Russell Willms, "his pace and ability to improvise will provide us an additional weapon up front and his character will be a bonus to the great group we already have in place."

Boshart demonstrated his ability to create quality chances for his teammates as a high school senior when he led Iowa Mennonite High School in assists.

Boshart and the Blazers will kick-off their preseason in a recently confirmed friendly, Thursday, August 28th versus the University of Winnipeg at Sturgeon Heights Community Centre. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
