Men's Basketball Prepares to Host Briercrest Clippers

With Fall Festival just days away, the Blazers Men's Basketball team is putting the final touches on their preparations to host the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference's Briercrest Clippers on Friday night, in what will certainly be an exciting start to a great weekend on campus. The two teams will renew acquiantances in the preseason for a fifth-straight year in a series that has thus far been dominated by the visitors from Caronport.

Second-year forward, Ben Shantz expects the home team to put on a good showing and believes that the young Blazers could surprise the Clippers in front of an anticipated full-house at the Loewen Athletic Centre for the 8pm tip-off. "We have continued to work on our help-defense and team defensive rules - something any team of new players needs to work on to get better," said the native of London, Ontario. "We are definitely hoping to win the game, but our focus on defense all week will be what helps us earn a victory."

The CMU Women's Basketball Team will also be tipping-off their preseason on Friday evening as they welcome the University of Winnipeg College Wesmen back to competition in the MCAC after a one-year absense in 2013-14. The Blazers will also be travelling to Brandon on Saturday afternoon for a scrimmage with the BU Bobcats.

Friday night will be the first chance for supporters to Adopt A Blazer. The Adopt A Blazer program is a fun way for supporters to donate to the program while at the same time, feeling a big part of the CMU team. Adopt A Blazer parents receive two tickets to all CMU home events in soccer, volleyball, basketball and futsal, a copy of the 2015 Edition of The Match Team Preview Magazine, a $100 charitable donation receipt, a photo of your favourite Blazer and the brand-new LOVE THE DOVE, Blazers Supporters Scarf. Fans can Adopt A Blazer at the admissions table on Friday night.
