Papa Murphy's Take 'n' Bake Female Athlete of the Month - September
Congratulations to April Klassen of the Women's Soccer Team on being selected the Papa Murphy's Take 'n' Bake CMU Female Athlete of the Month for September. The versatile second-year midfielder has seen her team struggle to pick up points through the first month of the season but has made a major impact in every game with her play on the field and with her dedication and attitude in training.
"April leads with a diligent attitude and a contagious dedication to soccer and her own skill development in the sport," said first-year head coach Deanna Zantingh, "As quick as she is with the ball at her feet, she is just as fast to recognize opportunities to help her teammates grow and develop as soccer players too."
Klassen and the Blazers currently sit one point behind the ACC Cougars for the fourth and final spot in the MCAC Championships that will take place later this month in Otterburne, Manitoba. CMU travels to Brandon this Sunday afternoon to kickoff with the Cougars in a must-win match that Zantingh hopes will see Klassen and her teammates leap-frog ACC and put the Blazers back in the playoff picture.
"April is irreplaceable on the field for her perseverance, unmatched speed, and double-threat personality as both a solid defender and an attacking playmaker."
