Blazers Ready To Roar At Red River Invitational

New head coach Don Dulder can hardly wait to get the preseason started for his Men's Volleyball team when they take the court tonight at Red River College against the Lakehead Thunder Wolves at 9:30pm in the Rebels Invitational.

"It is really exciting to see our team on the court," said Dulder, who recently led his Winman club team to a National Championship. "We will have a chance to try some different combinations this weekend and see how we size up against the competition."

The tournament has brought in two teams from the Alberta Collegiate Athletic Conference in the Keyano Huskies and Concordia Thunder as well as the Thunder Wolves, who are a club program out of Lakehead University in Thunder Bay. The MCAC will also be front and center and look to showcase the depth of Manitoba's talent in Men's Volleyball with the USB Rouges, Providence Pilots, ACC Cougars and the host Red River Rebels, who the Blazers will meet on Saturday morning at 11am in their second match.

"It is one thing to see players in practice, and a different thing to see them play in a game," Dulder explained, "We have seen alot of improviement in practice through September and this weekend will be a perfect opportunity to see how that practice can translate into a real game situation."

Red River College will be hosting the tournament in both the North and South Gymnasiums. Tonight, CMU plays Lakehead at the South Gym at 9:30pm. On Saturday, The Blazers face Red River at 11am in the North Gym and complete the round robin portion of the tournament at 3pm in the south gym versus the Keyano Huskies. Playoffs take place on Sunday morning.

The Blazers will fly to Toronto on October 16th to renew acquaintances at Seneca College with the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association in the Sting Challenge..
