Hayter Pours In 35 As Men's Basketball Grabs A Critical Win

Rookie guard Jon Hayter made good on 11-of-22 from the field for a monster statline of 35 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals as CMU topped the third-place College Wesmen 88-76 at the Duckworth Centre on a rare Thursday night game in MCAC Men's Basketball.

The Blazers led 41-37 at the half and finally found a way to put together a consistent third and fourth quarter to help them collect their second win of the season in conference play.

The win was timely for CMU, who now find themselves with a legitimate opportunity to climb out of fourth by the end of the regular season and put themselves into a better position as they enter the MCAC Final Four Tournament that the Blazers host February 14-15th.

Veteran forwards Ben Shantz and Adam Bergen also contributed 17 points each in Thursday's win. Bergen picked up 6 defensive rebounds to add to his conference-leading total in that category.

CMU travels to Wahpeton, North Dakota tomorrow where they will challenge the North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats on Saturday night. On Sunday afternoon, the Blazers will make the short two hour commute to Ellendale to tip-off with the Trinity Bible Lions at 3pm.
