Papa Murphy's Take 'n' Bake Female Athlete of the Month - January
Congratulations to Rayzanna Rempel of the Women's Volleyball Team on being selected the Papa Murphy's Take 'n' Bake Female Athlete of the Month for January. After failing to find a conference win in the opening half of the schedule, the second-year power led her team to 3 victories in the month of January including back to back wins over the ACC Cougars last weekend and a straight set win over the Red River Rebels earlier in the month.
Rempel stepped up in the front row and combined for 58 kills in 138 attempts in the weekend series with the fourth-place Cougars and scored 13 kills on 23 attempts against the Rebels.
"Ray has been a very important player for us all season," said CMU head coach Eku Malcolm, "she has really stepped up as our team has shown improved play and she has become a big leader for us on the court."
Swinging as a middle in her rookie year, Rempel hasn't missed a beat since moving to the outside in her second season. The 5'8 product of MCI in Gretna has helped her team improve their conference record to 3-14 and are now tied on points with the Rebels.
The 2015 MCAC Men's and Women's Volleyball Championships are scheduled for February 21st and 22nd at Brandon's Assiniboine Community College.
