Men's Soccer Begins Recruitment Season with Bonivital Playmaker

The CMU Men's Soccer Team is very pleased to announce the commitment of Bonivital Soccer Club midfielder Ryan Jensen for the 2015-16 season. Jensen was a member of the Manitoba Provincial Program as an under-14 and under-15.

"We are very happy to have Ryan's commitment to our program," said head coach Russell Willms, who will be entering his eighth season at the helm, "Ryan is a top level youth player who is creative on the ball, has excellent technical skill and has a personality and passion for the game that will fit very well with our group."

Currently finishing grade 12 at East Kildonan Collegiate, Jensen began premier youth club soccer with Phoenix FC where as an under-14, he led his side to a National bronze medal after defeating Quebec in their third-place match. During the tournament, Jensen led his team in goals and finished as a top-ten scorer over the five match tournament.

After moving to Bonivital as an under-16, Jensen helped his new club to a fifth place finish at Nationals and was subsequently recognized by his club by being selected the U16 Player of the Year. As an under-18, Jensen anchored the team to an eighth place Club Nationals finish.

"The experience and success that Ryan has had over his premier youth career will bring alot to our program next season and in the future," added Willms who expects to field a squad that will feature three fifth-year and and four fourth-year players.

You can catch the CMU men's futsal team in action this weekend in the second leg of the 2015 Copa de la Paz Tournament at the University of St-Boniface. The Blazers are in action on Saturday at 2:30pm versus Red River Rebels and Sunday at 4:30pm versus the ACC Cougars.
