Western Manitoba Defender Adds Quality To Women's Soccer Program

The CMU Women's Soccer Team is very happy to announce the commitment of Vincent Massey's Anna Lysack for the 2015 season. The Westman defender anchored her high school to the Zone 15 Championship this spring en route to the 2015 MHSAA Provincials that took place in Winnipeg last month. Her solid play and leadership led to Lysack earning recognition by being selected the winner of the Vikings Varsity Girls Soccer Coaches Award.

"Anna is a very intelligent player," commented new CMU co-Head Coach Cara Isaak, "she makes smart passes and sets up her teammates well. She will help our team both offensively and defensively this season."

In the Westman Women's League, Lysack was honored as Most Valuable Player of the Blizzard club team in 2014 and this summer has been lining up with the Brandon club team, Crush. The recent high school graduate has also been playing with the Brandon Bobcats club program, introduced for the development of prospective players for the MCAC varsity program. The Bobcats began conference play for Brandon University last season.

"The main thing that stands out for me about Anna is her confidence on the ball," added co-coach Lianna Bestvater, "she makes good touches, shows good vision and even away from the ball, she makes smart movements to help her teammates maintain possession."

The 2015 home opener against the Bobcats should be eventful for the new Blazer as many of Lysack's former club teammates will be suiting up for the opposition. The match is scheduled for September 12th on the John Scouras Field of the Winnipeg Soccer Complex.
