The Pita Pit Female Blazer Athlete Of The Month - September

Congratulations to Esther Schwarzkopf of the CMU Women's Soccer Team on being selected The Pita Pit's Female Athlete Of The Month for September.

It took very little time for the former Manitoba High School Rural Soccer Provincial Girls Most Valuable Player to adjust to life in the MCAC. The first year striker has seen her goal total rise and is pushing her team to new heights in the conference, highlighted on September 22nd when CMU defeated the defending MCAC Women's Soccer Champions, Providence by a final score of 5-1. In the win Schwarzkopf was dynamic, striking for three goals against the Pilots.

The Northlands Parkway Collegiate grad now has six goals on the campaign, good for a first place tie with Jessica Lister of the Red River Rebels in the race for the 2015 MCAC Women's Soccer Golden Boot. "Esther has shown an amazing attitude and work ethic and she inspires and encourages her teammates," said first year co-head coach Lianna Bestvater.

Schwarzkopf and the Blazers are back in action this Saturday morning when they host North Central University Rams from Minneapolis in an international friendly at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex followed by a regular season match away Sunday when they travel to Brandon tackle the team they are chasing in the standings, the Brandon Bobcats.
