The Pita Pit Male Blazer Athlete Of The Month - September

Congratulations to Andrew Letkeman of the CMU Men's Soccer Team on being selected The Pita Pit Male Blazer Athlete Of The Month for September.

The fourth-year midfielder capped a terrific month by scoring his third goal of the season on September 30th to lead his team to a 3-0 home win over the defending MCAC Men's Soccer Champions, USB, vaulting the Blazers into first place in the conference standings with a record of 4 wins and 2 defeats.

"No matter where he is put on the field, Andrew shows up ready to play," said head coach Russell Willms, "his engine goes a hundred miles a minute and his athleticism is sometimes mind-blowing as it was last night when he rose above all the USB defenders to get us a crucial goal."

Letkeman and the Blazers were also successful this month in Thunder Bay where they competed in a weekend mini-tournament with Confederation College and Lakehead University for the fifth year. CMU captured their third consecutive Challenge Cup and once again, Letkeman was central in the cup win.

Men's Soccer hosts an international friendly on Saturday afternoon at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex when the North Central University Rams visit from the National Christian College Athletic Association for a 1:30 pm kickoff. On Sunday, CMU travels to Brandon to face the Bobcats in very important conference match. The Blazers lead the Bobcats by two points in the standings, so three points in the away match will certainly be front and center in the mind of Letkeman.
