Dulder Adds A Familiar Face To Men’s Volleyball Roster For 2016-17

The CMU Men's Volleyball program is very happy to welcome Niverville Collegiate's Chris Giesbrecht into the fold for the 2016-17 MCAC season. Head Coach Don Dulder is very familiar with the Giesbrecht name, having coached Chris' older brothers Andrey and Mario in high school. The former Panthers head coach, Dudler is thrilled to finally have the third Giesbrecht in his rotation.

"Chris is a middle who is an extremely competitive and hard working player," said Dulder, "he has strong character, plays well under pressure and will do whatever it takes to make the team better."

Giesbrecht hopes to help power the Blazers on their quest for a Provincial Championship in 2017; something the 6'2 middle came within one victory of in each season of his varsity and JV high school volleyball career. The Panthers finished in second-place in the MHSAA 'AA" Provincials in 2012, 13, 14 and again last fall in 2015.

A three-time provincial all-star and a 2015 'A-AAA' graduating all-star on the court, Giesbrecht was also selected a 2015 MHSAA Rural Provincial Allstar on the soccer field where he plays goalkeeper for the Niverville Panthers.

"Chris comes from an extremely athletic family," added Dulder, "it is an extreme pleasure to have him join us and I look forward to having him on the court at CMU next year."

Men's Volleyball had a fabulous second half to the 2015-16 season and appeared destined for a Championship push as they entered the 2016 MCAC Conference Championship last month. A slip-up in the fourth set of the Championship semis allowed Red River to claw their way back into the match to force a fifth set that the Rebels would go on to win. Dulder believes that the addition of Giesbrecht as well as some of the other players on his recruiting radar, will provide additional depth and focus to help CMU take another run at an MCAC Championship in 2017.
