Athletic Linden Middle Attacker Lands With CMU Men's Volleyball

Jack Tyrrell is the latest recruit to commit to CMU Men's Volleyball for 2016-17 as the Blazers continue to add talented and versatile players to a squad expecting to be at or near the top of the MCAC next season. The 6'1 middle attacker / libero from Winnipeg's Linden Christian High School brings a high-level of athleticism and flexibility and is already quite familiar with many of his new CMU teammates.

As a member of the Linden Wings, Tyrrell has had great chemistry with current CMU and former Linden setter, Jacob Janzen. The duo also teamed with current CMU middle / left side Makoy Penner on Impact under 18 boys to finish third at the 2015 Manitoba Volleyball Provincial Championships and were regular top-25 finishers at the Division 1 level at the Canadian National Club Championships in their age category.

"Jack is a tremedously versatile player," says head coach Don Dulder, "he has excellent back row skills. He's a great defender and an extremely good passer."

Tyrrell led the Wings to a 2015 Manitoba High School 'AAA' Boys Provincial Championship in his grade 12 season; one win better than Linden's 2014 season where the Wings finished second to Calvin Christian.

"He gives us great depth and gives me alot of flexibility in our style of play," adds Dulder, "he comes from a top volleyball program and is a tremendous team player."
