Former Springs Christian Power Signs With Men's Volleyball Team

The squad for the 2016-17 Men's Volleyball team continues to take shape for the upcoming Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference campaign as the Blazers announced the commitment of former Springs Christian Academy outside hitter Jordan Franks. The 6'1 attacker helped the Eagles to the MHSAA 'AAA' Provincial finals in each of his three seasons with the varsity boys team and in addition boasts a lengthy history of success in the club volleyball scene.

"Jordan has a wealth of experience with prominent local clubs, Winman and 204," said head coach Don Dulder, "he is an extremely good passer, which is probably the best aspect of his game. He is a 'put away' player who can be counted on to score in pressure situations."

Franks' success as a club player is quite noteworthy. Beginning with his selection as his club's Most Valuable Player at the 14u level with 204, he went on to win Provincial Gold that season and won successive provincial championships as a 15u, 16u and 17u with Winman Volleyball Club. Franks finished his club career with Impact as an 18u.

"Jordan is a well-coached, high character player who will bring a great team-first personality to our program," added Dulder, "it's exciting to have him on board."

Franks' joins former Impact club teammates Jacob Janzen, Makoy Penner and recently signed Jack Tyrrell on the 2016-17 Men's Volleyball squad list. The Blazers travel to Toronto on October 13th to tackle some of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Assocation's top teams at the Seneca Sting Challenge and return to Manitoba to serve off their provincial schedule when they host the University of Winnipeg College Wesmen on October 22nd.
