Men's Soccer Recruitment Starts Early, Signing Kittle For 2017 Season

The 2017 MCAC Men's Soccer season is some eleven months away, but the roster for next season's CMU squad is already beginning to take shape.

Hapnot Collegiate's Tayler Kittle signed a letter of intent with CMU in July before departing on a year-long Rotary exchange to Germany for 2016-17. The powerful central midfielder comes to CMU from the Brandon-based, Westman FC PR2 where Kittle played from the under-16 to under-18 level. He was also rostered with the Manitoba Provincial U16 boys in the summer of 2014.

"Tayler first connected with us when he was entering Grade 10 and I'm thrilled to have him coming on board with our program next season," said head coach Russell Willms, "he is a focused, hard-working player who takes the game very seriously and Tayler is a great leader on and off the field."

The native of Flin Flon, Manitoba helped his HCI high school team to four zone championships and captained the Kopper Kings to their highest ever finish during his Grade 12 season of 2015, when they finished fourth at the 2016 MHSAA Rural Soccer Championships last fall.

Now in Germany, Kittle is competing with TV Stüher in the German Bizerksliga, (County League), a long road from where his footballing dreams started as a seven year-old with the Flin Flon Fusion.

The Blazers are in MCAC action against Brandon this Saturday afternoon as they seek to avenge a 4-1 loss they suffered at the hands of the Bobcats in mid-September. This will be the first home match for CMU since September 11th. The game will be streaming on Livestream beginning with kickoff at 2:15 pm.
