2019 MCAC Men's Soccer Regular Season Schedule Released

Yesterday, the newest regional conference of the CCAA, the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference, released their 2019 Men's Soccer schedule. The Blazers bounce into action on Week 1 with a home date against the Providence Pilots on September 7th at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex, as CMU sets out to defend their 2018 MCAC Championship.

NOTEABLE DATES

September 14th-15th

Week 2 will see CMU travel west to Alberta to challenge the Medicine Hat Rattlers and Lethbridge Kodiaks as a non-conference requirement of the MCAC probationary status with the CCAA. Last season the Blazers went 1-1-0 on their road trip to Caglary, defeating the Ambrose Lions and playing to a 2-2 tie with the then-ranked #1 team in the country, the SAIT Trojans.

September 22nd

In Week 3, CMU will face their 2018 MCAC Championship opponents for the first time when the Brandon Bobcats visit Ralph Cantafio for a 1:00pm kickoff. The Bobcats and Blazers appear to be the front-runners in the MCAC again this season and fans can expect each meetings to be full of tactical battles between the two head coaches, Anderson Pereira who enters his second season at the helm of CMU and the reigning MCAC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year, Jesse Roziere.

October 12th

Newly signed Gode Katembo will face his former team on Saturday afternoon of Thanksgiving weekend, when the Blazers host the Red River Rebels in Week 6 action. Katembo will not be alone in this Route 90 Showdown as three quarters of the Men's Soccer coaching staff got their introduction to the MCAC through the Rebels soccer program. Head coach Pereira, dawned the captain's armband for Red River for two season.

KICKOFF TIMES

All MCAC varsity sporting events will adopt non-traditional gendered start times in 2019-20. All CMU Men's Soccer matches will begin at 1:00pm while the CMU women are scheduled with the 3:15pm kickoff times.
