Women's Soccer Excited By The Addition Of Dakota Midfielder

Fresh off the high of a 2018 MCAC women's soccer championship, the Blazers continue to strengthen and grow their roster for the 2019-20 season, adding Dakota Collegiate and Windsor Park midfielder Ezri Trump. A relentless runner with strong technical skills, Trump helped the Lancers to an SCAC Zone Championship in her grade 12 season and led her club Windsor Park to an undefeated record in 2019, topping their WYSA under-18 division with a record of 13-1-0.

In the 2019 Manitoba High School Provincial Championships in June, Trump's Lancers held a 1-0 advantage over West Kildonan after 45 minutes only to see the Wolverines power back in the final minutes of the match to advance with a come from behind 2-1 win. The Wolverines would carry that momentum all the way to their first Provincial Championship banner in Girls Soccer. Dakota didn't let the first-round loss ruin their season, as the Lancers scored three successive wins to take the B-side of the Provincial bracket.

"As a right outside midfielder, Ezri uses her pace to run at defenders," said Dakota Collegiate head coach Allison Farrow. "She is an excellent crosser of the ball and works tirelessly to support her back line as well as create and take chances in the opposition's box. Ezri is a highly-focused athlete who leads by example and is always looking to improve her technical and tactical skills."

As a youth player in Winnipeg, Trump bounced between various WYSA programs including Bonivital S.C. and Winnipeg Phoenix before finding her best fit and opportunity to thrive at Windsor Park.

Trump and the Blazers step into MCAC week 1 action on September 7th when CMU hosts the Providence Pilots at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex. In Week 2, CMU travels to Alberta for matches Saturday and Sunday against the Medicine Hat Rattlers and Lethbridge Kodiaks as part of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association membership requirements for 2019 and 2020 as CMU seeks the opportunity to represent the MCAC at the CCAA National Championships in 2021.
