Saskatchewan Shot-Stopper Is "Missing Piece" For Men's Soccer

A critical position for CMU Men's Soccer's push to successfully defend their 2018 conference championship has gained strength with the recent signing of Rosthern Junior College goalkeeper Reed Fitzgerald. The 6'0 talent captained his high school team to consecutive provincial silver medals and was a part of Valley United at the under-15 and under-17 levels in Saskatchewan. In his small hometown of Rosthern, Fitzgerald backstopped his community club to a silver medal and three bronze medal finishes from u13 to u18.

"We are really excited to welcome Reed to our program and was the missing piece we were looking for to complete our squad," said second-year head coach Anderson Pereira. "He is a young, skilled goalkeeper with loads of potential and all the tools to be solid for us now and will become on of the top goalkeepers as he develops and matures. He has shown that he has strong leadership skills and I've seen his work ethic first hand, so I am confident he can reach his goals."

Preseason training has begun for the Men's Soccer program as the team sets their sight on their first match; September 7th at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex when they host the Providence Pilots. From there, the squad heads to Alberta for non-conference friendlies against the ACAC's Medicine Hat Rattlers and Lethbridge Kodiaks as part of their Canadian Collegiate Athletics Conference probationary requirements.
