Local Goal-Producer Signs Letter Of Intent With Men's Soccer

This Saturday, Joel Kisabo will be stepping onto the pitch at Investors Group Field moments after the Canadian Premier League match between Valour FC and Hamilton's Forge FC completes 90 minutes, as the 2017 Kildonan East Collegiate graduate attempts to lift his local club Granite United to a Bison Cup victory over Winnipeg Forza.

Before all that takes place, Kisabo visited the CMU campus on Wednesday afternoon to sign his official letter of intent to pull on a Blazers' shirt in the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference for the 2019-20 season. Kisabo and his teammates began preseason training at the beginning of the month as the squad prepares for their first match of the new campaign on September 7th at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex against the Providence Pilots.

CMU head coach Anderson Pereira believes Kisabo has the skills to be a big contributor to the Blazers offense this season. "Joel is a really versatile player. He can play as a 'target man' as well as a more dynamic style, making intelligent movements to open space to his teammates," explained the second-year sideline boss. "His physicality is another of his great characteristics. He is strong and can protect the ball very well and is very mobile and quick on his turns."

The striker is a product of the Phoenix Soccer Club where he helped the Northeast Winnipeg program to a National Championship berth at the u-15 level after winning the 2015 MSA Cup. Currently, Kisabo has collected four goals across all competitions in the 2019 Manitoba Major Soccer League season with Granite, competing in the First Division and in cup action.

Fans attending Saturday's Valour FC match are invited to stay until 8pm when Kisabo's Bison Cup Final kicks off at Investors Group versus Winnipeg Forza.
