Congratulations to Jessica Marx-Houndle of Women's Basketball on being selected the CMU Lionheart Sports Female Athlete of the Month for November. Marx-Houndle led the Blazers to a record of 4-1 through the month of November, good for a share of first-place in the NIAC Women's Basketball standings as the conference winds down for exams and the approaching semester break.

The fourth-year guard was heavily relied on by her teammates and coaches this month as the Blazers faced an injury list that ballooned to a total of six players deemed unfit for the floor last Friday night. With the added responsibility to score, rebound, defend and create offense, Marx-Houndle impressed, averaging 12.4 points per game, grabbing a team-high 11 rebounds per game while averaging 3.2 steals and blocking 5 shots in 5 conference games in 37 minutes of average court time.

"This month Jessica has had the experience of a lifetime", said head coach Joe Di Curzio. "Due to numerous injuries, she has taken a major leadership role with our team and has had to play all five positions on the floor. Thanks to her great attitude, high basketball IQ and the willingness to put team goals above individual goals, our team has had a fantastic month. She has been our leading rebounder almost every night, is averaging over 12 points per game and she is doing this while consistently matched up against our opponent's best player defensively."

The graduate of Winnipeg's Westwood Collegiate returns to action with the Blazers in Thief River Falls on January 3rd and 4th when CMU travels to North Dakota to start 2020 in the Pioneer Classic versus the host Pioneers and Rainy River Community College. The next home action for the Blazers is January 10th when CMU hosts the Red River Rebels. CMU Basketball is also hosting a booster night on December 8th at Boston Pizza Charleswood to assist in funding the program. For tickets to the evening event, contact any team member or email
