Jaworski Excited For New Volleyball Chapter With CMU

A graduating high school all-star and former Manitoba provincial team player, Leia Jaworski is sure to make an impact on the court when she suits up for the defending MCAC Champions this season. The versatile 5'8 left side/middle was recognized as her high school's Most Valuable Player in her Grade 12 season and added the title of Springfield Collegiate's Female Athlete of the Year prior to her graduation last summer.

"Leia's athleticism, power and determination have impressed me from afar for years so I am ecstatic to be on the same side of the net as her this coming year," said CMU head coach Jayme Menzies. "On top of her physical abilities Leia is a kind, bright person who will fit right into this Blazers' squad."

As a club athlete, Jaworski helped the Junior Wesmen 18u girls to a provincial bronze medal performance after previous club season with Shock where she helped the 17u's to a second place finish in 2017. Outside of the gym, Jaworski holds an impressive high school beach vollyeball resume, winning the beach championship in 2017 and finishing second in 2018.

"I want to extend my gratitude to Jayme for giving this opportunity to me and I am excited to play for her and contribute to CMU's success in the MCAC next season", added Jaworski.

Jaworski becomes the third recruit to commit to CMU this season, joining Carberry's Rachel Penner and Oak Park's Delaney Gerwin. The Blazers enter the 2020-21 MCAC regular season winners of thirteen consecutive matches.
