Men's Volleyball Makes Strong Statement With Recent Signing

Felix Stetefeld is preparing to put his mark on the MCAC. The promising middle attacker from Fort Richmond Collegiate has made his commitment to play with the defending champion CMU Blazers in 2020-21, addressing a key need for head coach Don Dulder who had circled this offseason as one where he needed to bring in a dynamic young middle.

"With two middles graduating this year, Felix is a very welcome addition," said a delighted Dulder. "He is a very experienced club player and a player who is improving tremendously in the last while. I truly believe that Felix has a huge upside."

Standing a shade under 2 meters tall, Stetefeld is still maturing into his 6'6 frame. In his final year of high school volleyball, Stetefeld helped the Centurions to a 'AAAA' Varsity Boys provincial berth that came as a result of a wild card win after the south-Winnipeg high school finished the regular season fourth in their zone. A sign of even bigger things to come, Stetefeld took home his team's Most Improved Player Award this season.

"I believe Felix has the potential to be a force in our conference," added Dulder. "He is a quality character player who will be a valuable asset to our team."

Stetefeld spent most of his club development with 204 including a Best of the West championship and a second-place finish at the Manitoba provincials. The middle was honoured with the Player of the Wave Award at the National Championships. His 2020 club season got off to a good start after transferring to Junior Bisons before the season was cut short because of the global pandemic.

The Blazers hope to start their 2020-21 preseason in Alberta on September 25-27 after conditionally committing to Red Deer College Invitational before the MCAC season is scheduled for first serve in mid-October. The CMU Blazers are members of the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference; the MCAC joined the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association in 2019.
